Children's Parliament Investigates...

Weaving Everything Together

This week the East Lothian MCPs took part in a series of challenges where we had to work collaboratively to create artworks representing our Calls to Action. We worked together in pairs and small teams to explore how we can get better results when we collaborate with others and when children’s views and ideas are included. We made giant ear sculptures to remind adults to listen and worked together to make a weaving, using recycled blind slats as a loom, as we discussed our rights and, literally, wove all our ideas together. We worked as a whole team to make little clay sculptures of children, made a dignity display and finished our Map of Participation. One of our MCPs commented “When everyone works together you can make really beautiful things.” All of the artwork produced by the MCPs will be on display at an exhibition at The John Gray Centre in Haddington as part of the launch of our online learning tool at the end of April.
