Growing Together

While finishing our illustrations and editing the scripts for our online game, the East Lothian MCPs discussed how it makes children feel when adults don’t give them their rights, and how we can convey these negative emotions in our game to teach adults the importance of respecting our dignity. As it was Children’s Mental Health Week we thought about our own emotional growth, and how much our knowledge and confidence has grown since the start of the project. We listened to a Bertie Brain mindful meditation to help us deal with negative feelings and learned that we all have an average of 40,000 thoughts a day! Next, we planted primroses which the MCPs are going to look after at home to remind them to nurture their own wellbeing and to symbolise our growing knowledge of children’s rights. We used recycled paper plant pots and added a layer of used tea leaves to help feed the plants, and to stop bugs eating the leaves.  We did lots of colourful background illustrations for our game as we chatted.
